My study abroad experience started at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, where I majored in French and had the chance to study abroad in Nantes, France and Yunnan Province, China. My adventures abroad continued in graduate school, where I received a master’s in International Affairs from George Washington University and spent a semester in Geneva, Switzerland. Through these programs, I improved my language skills, increased my knowledge of the host countries, and learned a lot about myself.

After finishing graduate school in Washington, DC, I joined an international education nonprofit and spent over four years supporting the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y), a U.S. Department of State program that sends American high school students abroad to study critical foreign languages. Throughout my career in international development and education, I have had the amazing opportunity to work with students, colleagues, and partners from a variety of backgrounds and hailing from around the world.
